TITANIC: Depths of Terror is an adventure game that makes the story of the sinking of the Titanic even more intriguing, with an oppressive and immersive atmosphere and creatures of the deep.

The legendary Titanic, the scene of one of the most remarkable tragedies in history, is brought back to life in TITANIC: Depths of Terror, a third-person survival horror indie game created by Stefano Cagnani, also known as Steven Games Studio. Released on May 16, 2023, the adventure combines underwater exploration with elements of psychological horror, challenging players to face dark mysteries and colossal creatures of the deep.

Thus begins the journey of Titanic: Depths of Terror, which reimagines the events of the Titanic through the lens of an ancient legend. According to the myth, the ship was attacked by a colossal beast on that fateful night in 1912. The survivors’ panic and the hallucinations caused by the trauma leave room for doubt, but what if the legend was more than just fantasy?

The player takes on the role of an explorer in search of answers, investigating the wreckage of the Titanic in the depths of the ocean. However, it is not only historical artifacts that await their discovery – a legendary creature may be lurking.

Influences and atmosphere

Cagnani revealed that the game was inspired by films that explore the unknown underwater, such as The Meg (2018) and Raise the Titanic (1980). Initially conceived as an exploration experience, the project evolved to include horror elements, creating an oppressive and immersive atmosphere.

The choice of Unreal Engine as the graphics engine reinforces immersion, allowing for detailed scenarios and lighting that intensifies the suspense. In addition, the game is free and exclusive to Windows, making it accessible to a wide audience.

The Titanic as a cultural icon

The fascination with the Titanic transcends decades, inspiring films, books, conspiracy theories and even games like this one. Cinematic works such as James Cameron’s epic Titanic (1997) and the cult Raise the Titanic keep the memory of the ship alive, while the myth of creatures of the deep makes things even more intriguing.

With Titanic: Depths of Terror, players have the opportunity to explore this rich mythology from a new perspective, facing the fear of the unknown as they delve into the dark waters of history and legend.
