The Shining: Madness Night

The Shining: Madness Night, also known as Overlook Madness, is a short, free, downloadable and independent third-person survival horror game inspired by the film The Shining (1980), which is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. It was developed by Stefano Cagnani (Steven Games Studio) and initially released on August 6, 2023.

Published by Stefano Cagnani himself and made available for Windows, The Shining: Madness Night promises simple yet effective gameplay. It is almost like a demo, but it should be interesting for fans of the film, the survival horror genre and a source of inspiration for some enthusiasts. The visuals are also very well done.

The Shining: Madness Night was developed on Unity Engine 4. You can play it as either Danny or Jack Torrance.

Synopsis

Jack Torrance accepts a job as a winter caretaker at the Overlook Hotel, secluded in the mountains of Colorado, along with his wife Wendy and his son Danny. In the deserted hotel, Jack spends his days writing his novel… As time passes, the situation deteriorates: Jack starts to grumble and become impatient, showing signs of mental instability due to lack of inspiration for his novel and the isolation, while his wife and son have to survive him.
